Yogi government has implemented 27 sectoral policies to attract both new and existing industries

Lucknow : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Friday, distributed incentives worth Rs 1,300 crore to 32 investors and LoC to various companies. This event underscores the government’s commitment to its policies, the transformed business environment in the state, and its vision for job creation.

Notably, over the past seven and a half years, CM Yogi has worked tirelessly to create a favourable investment climate. 27 sectoral policies have been developed and implemented to attract both existing and new industries. Improvements in law and order have alleviated entrepreneurs’ and traders’ fears.

The Nivesh Mitra Portal Mitra portal has streamlined the process for obtaining NOCs and accessing online incentives, reducing the need for physical visits to government offices. Industries now receive a 24-hour electricity supply, and connectivity through highways, expressways, railways, airports, and waterways has been rapidly developed. By promoting the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, CM Yogi has also encouraged investors within the state.

The Single Window System Nivesh Mitra Portal has played a crucial role in transforming Uttar Pradesh into the country’s ‘Economic Powerhouse.’ The portal has successfully processed over 15.40 lakh applications for NOCs/licenses. More than 8,00,000 entrepreneurs have provided ‘satisfaction’ feedback regarding the Nivesh Mitra Portal.

In addition, the portal currently has over 10 lakh registered users. Under this single-window system of the Yogi government, more than 491 licensing services across over 42 departments are available. Over the past 6 years, the portal has received more than 15.90 lakh applications for NOCs/licenses from entrepreneurs interested in investing in Uttar Pradesh, with a 97% success rate in processing these applications. Additionally, the government has made significant efforts by appointing Nivesh Mitra to address investors’ issues.

Today, electricity is being provided without discrimination across all 75 districts of UP. Industries have been granted open access to electricity and are also being encouraged to benefit from renewable energy sources. Through UPSIDA, solar plants and solar parks are being established in industrial areas. District headquarters receive 24-hour electricity, tehsil headquarters get 20 to 22 hours, and rural areas are provided with 18 to 20 hours of electricity.

The state government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminals, as well as corruption and corrupt practices, leading to significant improvements in law and order. According to NCRB data, there has been a notable reduction in crimes in Uttar Pradesh from 2016 to 2024. Incidents of dacoity have decreased by 86.47 per cent, robbery by 78.17 per cent, murder by 43.21 per cent, riots by 67.42 per cent, and kidnapping for ransom by 70 per cent.

From 2017 to 2022, crime rates increased more in Telangana, Odisha, Rajasthan, West Bengal, and Maharashtra compared to Uttar Pradesh. In terms of preventive action, the government has taken 4.45 per cent more action under the Arms Act, 14.98 per cent more under NDPS, 57.95 per cent more under the Excise Act, 70.69 per cent more under the Goonda Act, and 15.81 per cent more under the Gangster Act in 2024 compared to 2016.

The state government has established 10 key sectors, with infrastructure playing a crucial role. A comprehensive network of expressways, interstate connectivity, and highways has been developed across the state. The Yamuna Expressway was already in place, and in 2017, the Agra-Lucknow Expressway was under construction. Over the past 7 years, several new expressways have been built, including the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, and Delhi-Agra Expressway. By December 2024, the Ganga Expressway is also expected to be completed.

Additionally, work is ongoing on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, Ballia Link Expressway, and Chitrakoot Link Expressway. A new expressway connecting Shahjahanpur to Farrukhabad and linking to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway is soon to commence. The government is also advancing the project to connect the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal Expressway. Interstate connectivity is being enhanced with four-lane roads, and work is progressing rapidly to connect every district headquarters and tehsil headquarters with four-lane roads, and block headquarters with two-lane roads.

Furthermore, the railway network in the state has been strengthened, with the introduction of the rapid rail service between Delhi and Meerut. Previously, it took three and a half to four hours to cover this distance, but now it can be completed in 40 to 45 minutes.

Significant work has been done to enhance air connectivity in Uttar Pradesh. Currently, 4 international airports and 11 domestic airports are operational, and soon, the Jewar Airport will become the state’s 5 international airports. Jewar Airport is set to become one of the largest international airports in Asia, which will be a major boost for the state’s economy.

Additionally, the UP government has also developed waterways. The waterway between Varanasi and Haldia is successfully operational, and the survey for a waterway between Ayodhya and Haldia is also being advanced. UP is one of the few states that has established a Waterway Authority to accelerate the exploration and development of waterways.
