Gujarat and Maharashtra Cultural Exchange Musical Program Tomorrow

Mumbai : The Department of Cultural Affairs has organized a didactic and musical program titled “Folk Arts of Maharashtra and Gujarat” in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Gujarati Sahitya Akademi and the Lokayan Cultural Institute, Mumbai.

The event will take place at Social Welfare Hall, C.S. Road, Dahisar (East) on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 6 p.m. During the program, Dr. Monika Thakkar’s book, Bhulja Bhulabai ke Lokgeeton Ka Praksha Aur Artha, will be launched. The event will feature insights on folk art in Maharashtra by Dr. Monika Thakkar of the Folk Art Academy, Mumbai University, and Dr. Deepak Patel from Rajkot University, Gujarat.

Dr. Shivaji Waghmare will present folk songs from Maharashtra, while Vrind will perform folk songs of Gujarat, including Dhani Charan. The program will be inaugurated by Bhagwat narrator Minaben Joshi, with the book launch conducted by Prof. Surendra Tanna.

Working President Snehal Mujumdar and Academy member Monika Thakkar have encouraged citizens to attend the program in large numbers.
