The International Trade Show will provide a significant boost to the handicraft and textile industry of Uttar Pradesh, offering new possibilities and opportunities for the state’s craftsmen and artisans. The Yogi government is dedicated to promoting the traditional textile and handloom sectors in both local and global markets, and this event serves as a crucial platform for achieving that goal.
The handloom and textile industry holds a prominent place in Uttar Pradesh, which is the third-largest textile producer in India. It plays a vital role in the state’s economy and provides employment to a large number of people. Notable products from Uttar Pradesh include Banarasi sarees, Lucknow’s chikankari, and Bhadohi carpets. Lucknow’s Chikankari is a centuries-old traditional embroidery art that continues to captivate admirers today. This intricate hand embroidery is done on various fabrics, making it a unique symbol of Lucknow’s rich cultural heritage. Similarly, Bhadohi’s carpets are celebrated for their exceptional quality and intricate designs, which have made them highly sought after in both domestic and international markets. The carpets from Bhadohi are a significant export item, with a robust demand worldwide.
To further promote this industry, the Uttar Pradesh government is implementing various schemes and programs aimed at encouraging its growth and development.
A total of 500 stalls have been allocated for textile and handloom units at the UP International Trade Show, and the majority of these have already been reserved. To promote the state’s handloom and textile industry, the MSME department has ensured ample space at the event.
