Pu Lalthansanga, Minister of EF&CC Department, Observes National Forest Martyrs Day at the State Forest Training Institute
Aizawl : Today, the Environment, Forests & Climate Change (EF&CC) Department observed ‘National Forest Martyrs Day’ at the State Forest Training Institute, Bethlehem Vengthlang. The event was led by Pu Lalthansanga, Minister of the EF&CC Department, and Pu AK Biswal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests.
During the ceremony, the EF&CC Department honored the memory of 12 personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty: Pu Lalzawmliana, Wildlife Guard of Dampa Tiger Reserve; Pu Lalsiamliana, Forester from Durtlang; Pu Lalnunzira, Forester from College Veng; Pu R.L Zoliana from Tuikual South; Pu Zatluanga, Wildlife Guard from Darlawn; Pu K. Lallawmkima, Forest Guard from Kolasib; Pu Laithansanga, Forest Guard from Khawruhlian; Pu Vanlaltluanga, Deputy Ranger from Kawnpui; Pu B. Rothangliana, Chowkidar of Aizawl Zoo; Pu C. Lalrinkima, Forester from Lunglei; Pu C. Lalengmawia, Forest Guard from Champhai; and Pu Sangkhuma, Wildlife Guard from Dampa Tiger Reserve. A moment of silence was held in their honor.

National Forest Martyrs Day has been observed annually in India on September 11 since 2013. The date commemorates the sacrifice of 363 Bishnoi community members who, in 1730, gave their lives protecting trees from being felled. This historic event is remembered each year on September 11 as National Forest Martyrs Day.
