Health Minister Pi Lalrinpuii Visits Lunglei Municipal Council and Holds Meeting with LMC Officials

Lunglei : Today at 4 PM, Mizoram’s Health & Family Welfare Minister Pi Lalrinpuii visited the Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC) headquarters and held a meeting with the councillors at the Board of Council Hall, Convention Centre.

The Health Minister was accompanied by Lunglei South MLA Pu Lalramliana Papuia and Lunglei West MLA Pu T. Lalhlimpuia. During the meeting, LMC Chairman Pu Lalzuithanga, along with the LMC councillors, discussed various progress and achievements of the council, as well as the challenges and issues they are currently facing.

Minister Pi Lalrinpuii expressed her appreciation for LMC’s progress and assured that the state government would continue to provide support where needed. She emphasized the importance of collaboration for the development of Lunglei town and encouraged the councillors to work diligently to implement impactful projects for the community’s growth.

The meeting, chaired by LMC Chairman Pu Lalzuithanga, saw gratitude expressed for the Minister’s visit and the productive discussion. The councillors and LMC staff shared updates on their work, including previous achievements and ongoing challenges, particularly concerning internal conflicts within staff and the lack of available positions. Discussions also touched upon improvements needed at Saikuti Hall, and the plans for a Super Market and Multi-Car Parking facilities. The Minister urged further attention to these issues.

LMC Vice Chairman Pu K. Lalrinawma provided an update on traffic management, highlighting progress made in parking fee collection on internal roads, with collaboration between LMC and Local Councils. The new system is scheduled to be implemented from September 25, 2024. He also reported on advancements and challenges in solid waste management.

Executive Councillor Pu Zorinsanga Hmar discussed staffing issues related to finance and technical departments, and shared that sanitation efforts were well underway in the six main areas of the town. He also mentioned that a property tax survey is in progress, with civil work projects being carried out.

Executive Councillor Pi Lalhruaitluangi Sailo updated the gathering on shop licensing, advertising and hoarding regulations, animal control, town beautification, urban forestry, and birth and death registration. She highlighted both the achievements and the difficulties encountered in these areas.

In conclusion, the meeting reviewed LMC’s overall progress, identified remaining challenges, and discussed the future steps necessary to continue Lunglei’s development.
