Chief Minister Chairs Mizoram State Paddy & Rice Procurement Committee Meeting
Aizawl : Today, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma chaired a meeting of the Mizoram State Government Paddy & Rice Procurement Committee at the Chief Minister’s Office.
The meeting focused on ensuring that paddy farmers in Mizoram receive fair prices for their produce. After detailed deliberations, several decisions were made regarding the matter.
To support the newly introduced paddy procurement initiative in Mizoram, the government will implement a support price under the Handholding Scheme. As a pilot project, this initiative will be launched in Kolasib and Mamit districts this year. A comprehensive plan for implementation will be announced during the official launch of the Handholding Scheme tomorrow.
During the meeting, Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova announced a new subsidy rate for Ration Card holders, effective from October 2024:
“The government currently provides a subsidy of Rs. 25 for cardholders. From October onwards, this will be reduced to Rs. 10. The price of milled rice for Ration Card holders across Mizoram will now be Rs. 30 per kilogram.”
In addition, from October, the retailer’s margin will be adjusted from Rs. 0.50 to Rs. 1.50 per kilogram.
Retailers were reminded of their duty to ensure the accurate distribution of rice to the public in accordance with government regulations.
The meeting was well-attended by members of the Mizoram State Government Paddy & Rice Procurement Committee, who actively participated in the discussions.
