Fourth Suspect Identified in NCP Leader Baba Siddique’s Murder Case
Mumbai Police have made a crucial breakthrough in the murder investigation of NCP leader Baba Siddique, identifying a fourth suspect named Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar. Siddique, a three-time MLA representing Bandra West, was fatally shot in Mumbai. His son, Zeeshan Siddique, currently serves as the MLA for Bandra East.
The murder was carried out by three shooters. Gurmel Singh, hailing from Narad village in Haryana, and another suspect named Dharmaraj have been apprehended, while a third shooter, Shivkumar, remains at large. Authorities have traced connections to Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh, with further links emerging in Jalandhar, Punjab.
Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar, who previously faced charges related to organized crime, is from Shakar village in Nakodar, Punjab. He is accused of directing the shooters and supplying them with logistical support. Akhtar had recently been released from Patiala Jail in June and is believed to have ties with the notorious Lawrence gang.
The investigation has already led to the arrest of two suspects, with police exploring potential connections to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. According to DCP Crime Branch Datta Nalawade, authorities recovered two pistols along with 28 rounds of ammunition. The case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act, and Maharashtra Police Act.
