Over 123 Crore Rupees Allocated to the Accounts of More than Four Lakh Beneficiaries under the ‘Chief Minister Vayoshree Scheme’
Mumbai : The “Chief Minister Vayoshree Scheme” is being implemented to assist senior citizens aged 65 years and above in purchasing necessary equipment for their old age and to maintain their mental health through mental health centers, yoga therapy centers, and other initiatives.
According to a press release from the Department of Social Justice, as of October 14, 2024, a total of 123.63 crore rupees has been allocated as grants through the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system to the bank accounts of 4,12,113 eligible beneficiaries in the state who have completed Aadhaar authentication, with each beneficiary receiving three thousand rupees.
The scheme was inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on October 9, 2024, with funds being transferred via DBT to the accounts of 40,220 eligible beneficiaries in Kolhapur district. Under this scheme, applications have been received from 17,83,175 senior citizens in the state. The process of verifying these applications and Aadhaar authentication is currently underway.
