Inauguration of the SWEEP Cell at the Amaravati District Council

Amaravati : A SWEEP initiative is being implemented to raise awareness among voters for the upcoming assembly elections. The SWEEP cell was inaugurated at the Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Hall of the District Council, where the concept of the Wall of Proud Voter was realized.

The District Election Officer and District Collector, Saurabh Katiyar, presided over the event. Key guests included the SWEEP Nodal Officer and Chief Executive Officer, Sanjita Mahapatra, Municipal Commissioner Sachin Kalantre, Police Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Superintendent of Police Vishal Anand, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Balasaheb Bais.

Collector Katiyar stated that the Wall of Proud Voter is an innovative concept aimed at raising voter awareness and enthusiasm. Since elections are a celebration of democracy, the participation of all departments is crucial. The voting process is conducted transparently and without any interference, making it particularly significant. Various initiatives are being undertaken to encourage voters to come out voluntarily to cast their votes, which will contribute to an increase in voter turnout.

During the Lok Sabha elections, initiatives such as the Pink Army and voting reminders on electricity bills were included in the voter awareness campaign, helping to increase the district’s voter turnout. Katiyar urged all departments to come forward with innovative initiatives to further enhance voter participation. He encouraged citizens to engage actively, noting that positive responses have been received when voter slips are delivered to them.

Municipal Commissioner Kalantre mentioned that various initiatives have been launched to create awareness about voting in urban areas. It is essential for employees and citizens to participate in the voting process, for which special facilities will be provided in the municipal corporation. This year, new voters have been registered, and efforts will be made to ensure their participation in the elections. He emphasized that everyone should exercise their right to vote granted by democracy.

Police Commissioner Reddy assured complete cooperation from the police department for voter awareness and confirmed that mechanisms will be in place to ensure that all police personnel cast their votes. He expressed confidence that active participation from police personnel would significantly help increase voter turnout.

District Superintendent of Police Anand highlighted that every citizen is granted the right to vote in a democracy, and everyone should come forward to exercise this right. He assured that the police department will provide assistance for voting.

Mrs. Mahapatra noted that various initiatives are being carried out under the SWEEP program, aiming for an 80% voter turnout. A dedicated Wall of Proud Voter has been created to aid in voter awareness. The inauguration began with the ribbon-cutting for the awareness cell, and the event was anchored by Dnyaneshwar Ghate, with thanks extended by Sanjay Rathi.
