Campaign to Conserve every water Droplet is Commendable: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav highlighted the innovative ‘Karmabhoomi to Janmabhoomi’ scheme, aimed at enhancing underground water storage by harnessing rainwater. Under this initiative, businesspersons originally from other states, now residing and operating in Gujarat, are contributing their resources to install bores in their native regions. The scheme has already commenced in Satna district, Madhya Pradesh, with a statewide target of installing 15,000 bores. This commendable campaign, driven entirely by traders’ participation without reliance on government funding, reflects a remarkable commitment to water conservation. On Thursday, Dr. Yadav held a tripartite meeting at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi, with Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C.R. Patil and Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma to discuss the effective implementation of the scheme.
In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding appointing the District Collector as the nodal officer for the implementation of the scheme, completing the scheme in a quality and timely manner and removing the obstacles coming in its implementation.
Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C.R. Patil stated that the ‘Karmabhoomi to Janmabhoomi’ programme has been envisioned to transform Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s water harvesting resolution into a mass movement. Under this initiative, businesspersons from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar, currently residing in Gujarat, are facilitating the construction of bores for water harvesting in their native regions. Shri Patil highlighted the ambitious targets, which include digging 1.6 lakh bores in Rajasthan, 15,000 in Madhya Pradesh, and four bores in every village across 10 districts in Bihar. He expressed confidence in the scheme’s successful implementation through collaborative efforts from all participating states.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Sharma said that this scheme, started by the businessmen of Surat on the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has been started in Sirohi and Jodhpur districts of Rajasthan. He expressed hope that this scheme will prove to be a boon for cooperation in water recharge in the state of Rajasthan.
