‘Samvad Chimuklyanshi’ Initiative by Tribal Development Minister

Officials to Stay for a Day at Ashram Schools

Mumbai : The Government of Maharashtra is launching a significant initiative to enhance education and overall development in tribal communities. To understand the challenges faced by tribal students, ensure their safety, and improve the quality of available facilities, Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike has introduced the ‘Samvad Chimuklyanshi’ (Dialogue with Young Ones) campaign.

On February 7, 2025, a special inspection and interaction program will be conducted in government-run tribal ashram schools and hostels across the state.

Objective of the Initiative

Minister Ashok Uike emphasized that the primary goal of this initiative is to improve school life for tribal students and engage in direct dialogue with them. Maharashtra has 497 government-run tribal ashram schools, catering to thousands of students. While numerous welfare schemes are implemented for them, complaints about inadequate school facilities are common. To address these concerns effectively, communication between officials, teachers, and students is essential.

How the Initiative Will Work

  • Direct Interaction: Officials will stay overnight in tribal ashram schools and hostels to directly interact with students and understand their concerns.
  • Special Arrangements for Girls: Women officers will be assigned to girls’ ashram schools for their safety and comfort.
  • Inspection of Facilities: Officials will assess student attendance, teacher details, food quality, kitchen conditions, drinking water supply, cleanliness of toilets, separate bathing and sanitation facilities for girls, and overall student safety.
  • Water and Food Quality Checks: The initiative will focus on checking RO filters, availability of hot water, food hygiene, and nutritional quality.
  • Hostel and School Infrastructure: Officials will inspect beds, mattresses, bed sheets, pillows, lighting, fans, windows, electrical fittings, CCTV cameras, and fire safety equipment.
  • Safety in Girls’ Hostels: Authorities will ensure there are no security concerns, and facilities like sanitary napkin vending machines and emergency alert systems are functional.

Expected Impact

This initiative will enhance the educational environment for tribal students, resolve school-related issues promptly, and improve their overall experience. By engaging in direct discussions, officials will gain deeper insights into student concerns, helping the government formulate better policies and execute future initiatives more effectively.

This is a crucial step toward ensuring quality education, safety, and well-being for tribal students in Maharashtra.
