IIM Nagpur Moving Towards Net Zero – CM Devendra Fadnavis

Chief Minister Inaugurates 2 MW Solar Project; Maharashtra Aims for 52% Renewable Energy by 2030

Nagpur – Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur is taking a significant step towards achieving net-zero energy consumption through its new solar energy project, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today. He also emphasized Maharashtra’s goal of generating 52% of its total energy from renewable sources by 2030.

The foundation stone for the 2 MW solar project at IIM Nagpur, located in the MIHAN region, was laid by CM Fadnavis, who also unveiled the project’s cornerstone. The event was attended by Minister of State for Agriculture Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, MLA Dr. Ashish Deshmukh, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (Managing Director, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company), and IIM Director Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, among others.

India’s Energy Transition & IIM Nagpur’s Role

CM Fadnavis highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a national goal for energy transition, focusing on eco-friendly and renewable energy sources. IIM Nagpur has aligned itself with this vision by initiating a solar energy project to meet its own power needs.

  • The Net Zero initiative aims for self-sufficiency in energy consumption through renewable sources, with minimal or zero carbon emissions.
  • Maharashtra government is actively working towards achieving energy transition goals and promoting renewable energy generation.
  • By 2030, 52% of Maharashtra’s energy production will come from non-conventional sources, a goal the government is determined to accomplish.

Golf Academy Inauguration at IIM Nagpur

CM Fadnavis also inaugurated the cornerstone of the IIM Nagpur Golf Academy, alongside Minister of State Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, MLA Dr. Ashish Deshmukh, and IIM Director Dr. Bhimaraya Metri. He stated that the academy has enhanced IIM Nagpur’s campus to international standards.
