Yogi govt carries out 45-day campaign for Maa Ganga’s cleanliness and environmental awareness at Mahakumbh

500 Ganga Sevadoots deployed at Mahakumbh under Namami Gange initiative

Lucknow/ Prayagraj : A 45-day-long campaign under the Namami Gange initiative was launched to spread awareness about the environment and Maa Ganga during the Mahakumbh. The campaign witnessed the active participation of over 2,000 people from the district Ganga committee, Ganga task force, Bharat Scout guide, and Ganga Vichar Manch, alongside 500 dedicated Ganga Sevadoots.

A special drive campaign on Ganga cleanliness and environmental awareness was conducted throughout the Mahakumbh. Additionally, as part of the Clean Ganga Mission, both national and international visitors received digital information about Maa Ganga.

District Project Officer Esha Singh highlighted the various activities organized to raise awareness about the environment and Maa Ganga. These included rallies, exhibitions, street plays, and seminars aimed at educating devotees from across the country and abroad, as well as the local community, about the importance of keeping the Ganga clean. The campaign emphasized the message of “Clean and Green Mahakumbh,” reinforcing the need for collective efforts in preserving the sacred river.

A digital exhibition was also held under the National Clean Ganga Mission at the Namami Gange pavilion. Here, visitors from around the world were informed about the significance of the Ganga and the importance of environmental conservation. Slogans promoting Ganga cleanliness were echoed along the sands of the Sangam, encouraging devotees to maintain the sanctity of the river.

To further support the cause, a “Cleanliness Labour Donation” campaign was launched to preserve the cleanliness of Triveni. Local residents were motivated to refrain from disposing of plastic, garbage, and other pollutants into the river.

Youth volunteers stationed at the ghats and the Namami Gange exhibition creatively raised awareness about Ganga and environmental protection through impactful theatrical performances. As part of an eco-friendly initiative, Namami Gange cloth bags were distributed to devotees visiting the exhibition.

The series of environmental conservation programs organized at the Mahakumbh fostered a sense of social and ecological responsibility among attendees and received widespread appreciation.

In addition to encouraging people to keep Triveni clean, a large-scale cleanliness drive was carried out at Fort Ghat and Sangam along the Ganga’s banks. The campaign involved collecting waste from the ghats and hosting public awareness programs.

The efforts were supported by the district Ganga committee, Ganga task force, Environment Conservation Activity, NDRF, Bharat Scout guide, Ganga Vichar Manch, Municipal Corporation, CIFRI, and the Wildlife Institute of India.
