Rare devotional books reprinted by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department will now be easily available to the public through over 100 book sales outlets set up in temples across the state. These outlets were inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M. K. Stalin.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M. K. Stalin, inaugurated through video conferencing the newly set up book sales outlets in 100 additional temples across the state, where rare devotional books reprinted with new bindings by the publication wing of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department will be made available to devotees.
As part of efforts to regulate and properly manage the temples under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE), various initiatives are being carried out, including temple renovation works, organizing consecration ceremonies, enhancing basic facilities for devotees, reclaiming temple lands from encroachers, and preserving the rich heritage and culture. As part of these efforts, the publication wing has reprinted rare devotional books to preserve and pass on spiritual values to future generations.
Under the guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, the HR&CE department’s publication division has been revitalized and has reprinted rare devotional works with modern binding. These include bhakti literature, the life histories of saints, temple architecture books, sculpture books, poetic works, painting books, rare Tamil palm-leaf manuscripts, speeches of scholars, books of Siddhars who safeguarded the faith, and more. A total of 216 devotional books have been released in two phases.
To make these devotional books easily accessible to the public, sales outlets have been opened in 103 temples under the department’s control and one outlet at the department’s head office. These sales outlets are already functioning and books are being sold.
In the second meeting of the HR&CE Department’s executive committee held on 27.02.2024 under the leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, it was resolved:
