CM Pays Tribute to Three Dombivli Residents Killed in Pahalgam Terror Attack
Thane : Thousands of grief-stricken citizens gathered at Bhagshala Ground in Dombivli on Wednesday night to bid a tearful farewell to Hemant Joshi, Sanjay Lele, and Atul Mone, the three victims from Dombivli who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The premeditated and heinous attack has cast a pall of sorrow over the entire city, but it has also sparked widespread public outrage against terrorism.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid his last respects to the deceased and consoled their grieving families. He visited the venue where the bodies were kept for public homage.
Also present were MP Shrikant Shinde, former MP Jagannath Patil, MLA Sulabha Gaikwad, former Minister Ravindra Chavan, District Collector Ashok Shingare, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Dnyaneshwar Chavan, Zilla Parishad CEO Rohan Ghuge, and a large number of local citizens. All paid floral tributes to the deceased and expressed their condolences. The atmosphere was heavy with sorrow, and an overwhelming silence enveloped the gathering as people came forward one by one to pay their respects.
During the CM’s visit, emotionally charged citizens raised slogans against Pakistan, demanding a complete ban on all Pakistani products. Many in the crowd tearfully told Fadnavis, “Only you can bring us justice.”
Around 9:00 PM, the flower-adorned funeral vehicles carrying the bodies departed for the cremation grounds. A massive funeral procession preceded the departure, with large banners displaying the names and photos of the deceased and reading “Heartfelt Tributes.”
The procession passed through major routes of Dombivli including Domino’s Pizza, M.G. Road, Dombivli Station (West), Kopar Road, Kopar Bridge, Tandon Road, and R.P. Road, finally reaching the crematorium at Shiv Mandir Road, where the last rites were conducted amid a mournful ambiance. Thousands of citizens struggled to hold back tears as emotions overwhelmed the crowd.
Before the cremation, Bhagshala Ground was filled with a solemn silence as people quietly walked past the coffins. Some stood still in disbelief, while others wept silently. The psychological impact of the tragedy on the community was palpable.
Earlier in the day, when the mortal remains arrived at the airport, senior leaders and ministers paid floral tributes on behalf of the state.
Meanwhile, in a late-night statement, the Thane District Administration informed that 156 tourists from the district are still stranded in Jammu and Kashmir. Arrangements are being made to bring them back via special flights and vehicles, with the repatriation expected to begin from tomorrow.
In light of the terror attack, Dombivli residents have demanded justice for the victims and called for strict action against terrorism across the country.
