Indian Delegation in New York Reaffirms Stand Against Terrorism

New York: An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, led by Congress MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor, visited New York to highlight India’s united stance against terrorism. During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions with leading think tanks, academic leaders, and members of the media, underlining India’s firm resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms.

The Indian Consulate in New York posted on social media platform X: “India’s all-party delegation led by Hon’ble MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor held discussions with leading think tanks, academic leaders and media in New York. The discussions underscored India’s firm national resolve to fight terrorism – united in voice, resolute in action.”

Earlier, the delegation visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, where they paid tribute to the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks. The visit was intended to demonstrate India’s solidarity with the United States in the global fight against terrorism.

“All-party delegation from India led by Dr. Shashi Tharoor visits National 9/11 Memorial in New York,” the Consulate General of India in New York posted on X. “The delegation paid tribute to the innocent lives lost in the tragic 9/11 attacks and reaffirmed India’s unwavering solidarity with the US in combating terrorism globally.”

Speaking to ANI, Tharoor said, “We went to the 9/11 Memorial to send a message that New York too suffered from terrorism, just as we have in India. It’s important to show solidarity and shared understanding in this fight.”

The bipartisan delegation comprises leaders from across India’s political spectrum. In addition to Tharoor, members include Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), GM Harish Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejasvi Surya, Bhubaneswar K. Latha (all BJP), Mallikarjun Deoda (Shiv Sena), and former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu.

The delegation’s visit to the U.S., along with planned stops in Guyana, Panama, Brazil, and Colombia, aims to present a unified Indian position on terrorism. Through their outreach efforts, the members will emphasize India’s message of zero tolerance towards terrorism and reinforce the country’s commitment to global peace and security.
