“Provide Necessary Facilities to Pilgrims; Emphasize Cleanliness – Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar”

Satara : Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar inspected the Palkhi campsites at Lonand, Taradgaon, Phaltan, and Barad in the Satara district along the route of the revered Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession. He instructed officials to provide essential facilities at the resting places for the pilgrims and emphasized maintaining cleanliness as part of the ‘Nirmal Wari’ initiative.

Dr. Pulkundwar inspected the Palkhi campsite at Taradgaon in Phaltan taluka and reviewed the arrangements made for the Palkhi’s stay. Present during the inspection were Phaltan Sub-Divisional Officer Sachin Dhole, Group Development Officer Chandrakant Bodre, and trustees of the Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession.

Dr. Pulkundwar stated that necessary facilities should be provided for the safety and health of the pilgrims. Adequate arrangements should be made for drinking water and mobile toilets at the campsites. He emphasized that toilets should be regularly cleaned. He noted that in Pune district, the campsites and resting places are swiftly cleaned after the Palkhi’s departure and directed that similar arrangements be maintained at all campsites, with sufficient cleaning staff deployed for this purpose.

Arrangements have been made to ensure cleanliness at all campsites, resting places, and along the Palkhi route, with wet and dry waste sent to processing facilities. Municipal councils and gram panchayats have made their garbage collection vehicles available for this purpose, as informed by Phaltan Sub-Divisional Officer Sachin Dhole.

Dr. Pulkundwar expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the Phaltan taluka administration for the Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession. He planted trees along the Palkhi route and appealed for proper care of the trees planted as part of the ‘Harit Wari’ (Green Procession) initiative.
