- Innovative steps taken to boost enrollment
- Yogi govt views education not just as a right but also as a source of values: Sandeep Singh
Lucknow – The ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ kicked off on a grand note in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday with the beginning of the new academic session. Children were in a celebratory mood as they were welcomed in traditional ways in government schools, and education was promoted as a social movement by engaging communities and parents in active dialogue.

Digital innovations were used to raise awareness, with a special emphasis on enrollment and participation of girls. In a notable step towards environmental protection, tree plantation drives were conducted under the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in Mother’s Name).
This campaign is a visible expression of the Yogi Government’s commitment to making education a tool for social revolution, with the goal of reaching every child. That vision has now taken the form of a festive movement. As government schools reopened after the summer break, students were welcomed not just formally but with deep sensitivity, respect, and cultural warmth. Simultaneously, the second phase of the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ commenced across the state, running from July 1 to July 15.
This phase serves as living proof of the Yogi Government’s belief that education is not merely about academics, but a fundamental right of every child. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s foresight forms the foundation of this initiative. He has clearly maintained that if a child cannot reach school, it is the state’s responsibility to bring education to their doorstep. The ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ is a manifestation of that visionary thought, aiming to reach even the most marginalized children in society.
Schools transformed into celebration venues; children welcomed traditionally

Schools across the state were draped in a festive atmosphere today. Children were welcomed with flower garlands and served sweet dishes like halwa, symbolizing the wish to fill their lives with sweetness. Just like in other districts, schools in Shahjahanpur, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Jalaun, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bulandshahr, and Ayodhya extended heartfelt greetings to students with roli-chandan ceremonies, floral tributes, sweets, community meals, and cultural programs.
At the Adarsh Samvilian Vidyalaya in Nagar area of Prayagraj, children were given books and stationery by the Chief Development Officer. A student rally was flagged off, and under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, saplings of Rudraksh, Parijat, and Mahogany were planted.
Parents urged to send children to school
At the Primary School Amkheda in Madhogarh block of Jalaun district, teachers and students issued a digital appeal to the community, urging them to send their children to school. This innovation has emerged as a powerful example of promoting social participation in education.
‘Educate the daughter, empower the state’: girls welcomed with dignity
Across Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in districts such as Lakhimpur Kheri, Varanasi, Ambedkar Nagar, Unnao, Sultanpur, and Jaunpur, girls received a warm welcome. They began the new session with enthusiasm for learning, dialogue, and innovation. Under the leadership of the Yogi Government, girls’ education continues to receive special priority.
Rallies, plantation drives, and cultural events spark public awareness
Similar to other schools across the state, the Composite School Jakhia in Kalan Block of Shahjahanpur began its academic journey with prayers to Goddess Saraswati. In Ayodhya’s Karimpur schools, students were welcomed with flower showers and tilak ceremonies. From Prayagraj to Saharanpur, the message of education was taken to the masses through rallies, wall paintings, and cultural programs.
“The second phase of the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ has begun in a festive spirit across Uttar Pradesh. With focused efforts like door-to-door outreach, special emphasis on girls’ enrollment, and identifying out-of-school children, we aim to ensure that no child is left out in the new academic session.”
