New District Research Office Building Inaugurated at Saitual by Economics & Statistics Director

Saitual : The newly constructed District Research Office building for Saitual District, located at Keifang Venghlun, was inaugurated today by the Director of Economics & Statistics, Mr. B. Lalrinhlua.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Mr. B. Lalrinhlua expressed that the work carried out by the staff of the Economics & Statistics Department is highly commendable. He noted that both the Directorate and the District Offices are making significant progress. He further stated that Saitual is among the first eleven districts to have its own office, and that offices in the three newly created districts—Khawzawl, Hnahthial, and Saitual—are now being established. He credited the leadership of government authorities, village councils, and the efforts of PWD officials, contractors, Directorate staff, and DRO staff for the successful inauguration of this office.

Mr. Lalrinhlua emphasized the importance of carrying out duties diligently and responsibly, highlighting the need for effective communication and coordination among leaders and administrators. He stressed that poor communication in various offices is undesirable and must be corrected. The department will take appropriate steps to address such issues wherever they exist. He also mentioned that the department is implementing various development strategies, and urged DRO staff to utilize these opportunities and carry out their responsibilities efficiently.

He reiterated that the new District Research Office will play a crucial role in producing accurate statistical data for Saitual District. He stressed the importance of reliable statistics for effective governance and development, and stated that accurate data will help guide the district’s growth.

According to the technical report, the DRO office building was constructed at a cost of ₹70 lakhs. The building comprises a District Research Officer’s Quarter and a Staff-cum-Chowkidar Quarter, consisting of three floors: basement (39.002 sqm), ground floor (104.749 sqm), first floor (104.749 sqm), and mumty (8.889 sqm), making a total floor area of 257.389 sqm. Construction began on 9th September 2022 and was completed on 9th April 2025. The District Research Office in Saitual was first established on 26th March 2021, and currently has 1 DRO, 4 staff members, and 5 other employees.

Today’s inauguration event was chaired by Joint Director Pi Mary Lalrinchhungi (Economics & Statistics), who also spoke in detail about the department’s operations. The dedication prayer was led by Capt. Lalhmasanga, Corps Officer of the Salvation Army. SDO Er. K. Chawngzika presented the technical report. Remarks were also delivered by DRO Saitual Mr. Lalnghinglova and other dignitaries. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Deputy Director Pi B. Vanlalrengi.

The program was attended by officials from the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, and staff from DRO offices in Aizawl, Khawzawl, Champhai, and Saitual, along with numerous guests.
