Indian Oil Tanker Capsizes Off Oman; 13 Indians Missing.
NEW DELHI : Sixteen individuals, including 13 Indians, are reported missing after a Comorian-flagged oil tanker capsized off the coast of Oman, officials confirmed.
The Sultanate of Oman’s Maritime Security Centre (MSC) disclosed that the oil tanker overturned 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah on Tuesday.
While the exact cause of the capsizing has not been determined by Oman, ongoing search and rescue efforts are being conducted in the vicinity to locate the crew members who are still unaccounted for.
Identified by the MSC as the Prestige Falcon, the vessel was manned by a crew of 16, comprising 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans.
Indian defense sources cited in local media reports stated that the Indian Navy has mobilized the INS Teg, accompanied by the maritime surveillance aircraft P-81, to support Oman in the search and rescue operations for the missing oil tanker.
