Chief Minister Calls for Acceleration of Master Plan Work in State Cities
Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, while chairing a meeting of the Housing Department at the Secretariat on Thursday, directed officials to expedite the implementation of master plans in various cities across the state.
He instructed that the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban – EWS housing) be re-verified to ensure that the scheme’s benefits are reaching only the eligible individuals. Strict action must be taken against those who wrongly receive or facilitate benefits under the scheme. Furthermore, he emphasized that future housing allocations under this scheme should be strictly limited to qualified applicants.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of assessing the carrying capacity of cities alongside the master planning process. He also called for special attention to water conservation and tree plantation in urban areas.
It must be ensured that all construction in urban zones strictly follows maps and plans approved by the concerned authorities. In addition, green features like water harvesting and increased greenery should be integrated into all building and society development projects.
The Chief Minister directed that encroachment removal should be conducted firmly and efficiently. Housing maps should be approved within the stipulated time frame, keeping public convenience in mind.
He also issued instructions for the rapid development of one new city in each of the state’s two divisions. These new cities should be developed in conjunction with spiritual zones.
In view of growing housing demand, the Chief Minister directed that a comprehensive assessment be conducted to evaluate housing needs for all sections of society, estimate future requirements, and prepare a concrete action plan accordingly.
He emphasized proper land utilization in urban areas and redevelopment of congested zones as per the needs.
