Demand for Four-Laning Kusumba-Dondaicha-Shahada-Khedkochra-Sendhwa National Highway – Minister Jaykumar Rawal Meets Nitin Gadkari
New Delhi, Aug 2025 : Maharashtra’s Minister of Marketing and Guardian Minister of Dhule District, Jaykumar Rawal, met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to request the widening of the Kusumba-Dondaicha-Shahada-Khedkochra-Sendhwa National Highway into a four-lane expressway. He also urged for immediate action to construct a new bridge over the Tapi River at Sarangkheda.
Currently, this highway connecting Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh is a two-lane road. Due to increasing traffic congestion and rising accident rates, widening it to a four-lane expressway has become essential. Rawal discussed these issues in detail with Gadkari and requested the upgradation of the highway into a high-speed corridor. Additionally, he emphasized the urgent need to expedite the construction of a new modern bridge over the Tapi River at Sarangkheda.
Union Minister Gadkari responded positively to both demands and instructed officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) immediately. Minister Rawal expressed hope that once completed, the project would significantly reduce travel time and boost the local economy.
