Raipur, Sept 2025 – A new chapter has been added to the history of Chhattisgarh. Five young tribal mountaineers from Jashpur district have set out for the Duhangan Glacier region in Himachal Pradesh. This 18-day high-altitude training and mountaineering expedition is not just about courage and adventure—it is also part of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai’s vision to empower tribal youth, help them scale new heights, and earn global recognition.
From Jashpur to the Himalayan Peaks
The five young climbers—Sajan Toppo, Sanjeev Kujur, Prateek Ekka, Manish Nayak, and Ajit Lakra—all hail from tribal backgrounds in Jashpur. Their daring step toward the Himalayas proves that dreams born in villages and forests can touch the world’s toughest peaks. This expedition sends an inspiring message to the youth of not just Jashpur, but the entire state of Chhattisgarh: with opportunity and determination, no destination is out of reach.
CM’s Blessings and State Support
Before their departure, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai blessed the team and extended his best wishes. He emphasized that bringing the energy and potential of Chhattisgarh’s tribal youth to the global stage is one of his top priorities. The expedition has been made possible through state government support and the guidance of prestigious national and international institutions.
Global Mountaineers Join the Mission
The team will be accompanied by renowned mountaineers and guides from Spain, the United States, and India. As they climb icy peaks, glaciers, and treacherous rock faces, these young mountaineers will explore new climbing routes. This invaluable experience will pave the way for Chhattisgarh’s youth to build careers in professional adventure sports and adventure tourism.
Carrying the Message of Conservation
The team will also carry forward messages of environmental conservation and the Swachh Bharat Mission to the Himalayan heights. Before beginning their journey, the mountaineers offered prayers at Jashpur’s famous Madheshwar Dham, seeking blessings for a safe and successful expedition.
This is not just a Himalayan climb—it is a powerful blend of tribal youth empowerment, the Chief Minister’s vision, environmental awareness, and the spirit of adventure. For future generations, it will stand as an inspiration that with unwavering determination, one can conquer not only the Himalayas but every summit of their dreams.
