Awareness Programme on the Use of 5G Technology Held at Govt. Serchhip College

Serchhip, Sept 2025: An awareness programme on the concept and practical use of 5G technology was jointly organized today by Amantya Technology and Government Serchhip College for the students. The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner of Serchhip, Pu Paul L. Khuma, as chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Pu Paul L. Khuma highlighted the importance of 5G in various fields such as education, healthcare, and agriculture. He said that in today’s fast-changing world, where money, time, and opportunities are very valuable, 5G can help doctors and medical professionals provide timely consultations, and in education it can serve as an effective and engaging tool for students. He added that 5G enables smooth video conferences, eliminating the need for expensive travel for meetings, and supports the government’s efforts toward digitization and high-speed internet-driven programmes. He expressed appreciation that Serchhip Govt. College has established a well-equipped 5G lab and continues to organize training sessions on its effective use.

Principal of Serchhip Government College, Pu C. Laldintluanga, expressed gratitude to the collaborators. He encouraged students to use smartphones not merely for entertainment but as a useful tool in their studies. He also urged them to adapt to and become skilled in emerging technologies.

During the programme, Ms. Sangeeta Boruah, Lead Project Coordinator at Amantya Technologies, made a presentation on “Demo of 5G Use Cases Developed by the Students.” Several student projects were showcased:

  • Smart Room System – presented by K. Vanlalruatmawia
  • Smart Farming using 5G Technology – presented by Vanramnghaki
  • Water Level Monitoring System using 5G – presented by Remsangpuii
  • Automatic Light using PRI Sensor with 5G Technology – presented by Vanlaldingheta

Each presentation received attention and appreciation from the audience.

Dr. Jonathan Lalnunsiama, Assistant Professor and Nodal Officer of Serchhip College, also spoke on the implementation of Skill Development Training under PM Industry, the importance of preparing students for today’s rapidly advancing technological world, and the diverse applications of 5G technology.

The programme was attended by students and teachers from various high schools in Serchhip town, along with officials from the SDEO Serchhip Office and members of the Medical Department. After the event, participants visited the 5G Training Lab at the college’s academic building, which was specially set up for student learning.
