“Book Nest Initiative” for Book Collection Underway in Lunglei

Lunglei, Sept 2025: Under the leadership of the Lunglei District Deputy Commissioner, the “Book Nest Initiative” for students of Lungsen Aspirational Block has been launched in Lunglei town. Since September 8, 2025, 21 YMA branches under the Sub-Headquarters YMA in Lunglei town have been actively collecting books.

Various section YMA branches are organizing house-to-house visits within their localities, collecting textbooks and storybooks in good condition. Some branches have already gathered books, and many others are expected to complete their collections soon. After the collection drive, the books will be sorted, verified for quality, and then stored at the Sub-Headquarters YMA Office with the support of YMA and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in each locality.

Once the books are properly organized and made ready, they will be distributed to 60 government schools across the Lungsen Aspirational Block.

Recently, Luangmual Branch YMA successfully carried out its book collection drive. The collected books were reviewed yesterday by YMA members and SHG members in the presence of Lunglei District Urban Development Officer Pi Lalhruaitluangi and Sub-Deputy Commissioner Pi Lalhlimpuii Pachuau.
