‘SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivir’ Health Check-ups Held for LMC Sanitation Workers in Lunglei
Lunglei, Sept 2025: As part of the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign being observed nationwide from September 17 to October 2, 2025, a special health screening camp under ‘SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivir’ was organised today for sanitation workers of Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC). The camp was held at the Health ATM, Civil Hospital Lunglei, where workers underwent comprehensive health check-ups.
Launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Jal Shakti (Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation) and the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ is a nationwide initiative to promote cleanliness and hygiene. As part of this year’s campaign in Lunglei District, a series of cleanliness drives are being undertaken, with special emphasis on recognising the contribution of sanitation workers and safeguarding their health.
The health camp was organised by the Deputy Commissioner, Lunglei, in collaboration with LMC, underscoring the importance of sanitation workers’ well-being and their vital role in keeping the community clean.
