Chief Minister Fadnavis Inaugurates NAT Centre at AIIMS Nagpur

Nagpur, Nov 2025 : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) Centre at AIIMS Nagpur. AIIMS is the first government health institution in Central India to offer such an advanced facility. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Gamma Blood Irradiator system during the event, which was organised by the Department of Transfusion Medicine at AIIMS.

NAT is a rapid testing method used to detect pathogens in blood, saliva, or other samples. It enables early diagnosis of serious diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C, allowing immediate medical intervention. High accuracy is another key feature of this test. With this technology installed in blood banks, the risk of contaminated blood being supplied to patients is nearly eliminated. The Gamma Blood Irradiator ensures that patients receive highly purified blood and prevents transfusion-related infections.

Chief Minister Fadnavis praised both technologies and expressed hope that these facilities would greatly benefit people in need. Earlier, Dr. Prashant Joshi, Acting Director of AIIMS, welcomed the Chief Minister. Dean Dr. Mrinal Pathak, Maharashtra Medical Council Administrator Dr. Vinky Rughvani, and AIIMS Transfusion Medicine experts Dr. Soumya Das, Dr. Parag Phulzele, Dr. Raunak Dubey, along with other dignitaries, were present.
