CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Directs Proposal for Cashless Treatment for Accident Victims Beyond Ayushman Scheme
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during the Road Safety Council meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, directed that the Transport and Health Departments prepare a proposal to provide cashless treatment for accident victims in hospitals other than those covered under the Ayushman Scheme. He instructed officials to make more effective efforts to reduce road accidents in the state.
The Chief Minister said that intensive checking should be conducted in border areas of the state to control accidents and that special vigilance must be maintained in hilly regions. It must be ensured that vehicles are not overloaded. People should be regularly made aware of traffic rules, and modern resources should be used to the maximum extent to improve traffic systems.
He directed that regular cleanliness and safety campaigns be conducted at bus stands, and strict action be taken against those violating traffic norms. The response time for transporting injured persons to hospitals after road accidents should be kept to a minimum.
The Chief Minister instructed that road repair works in areas affected by heavy rainfall, especially those with high crowd density and traffic movement, should be given top priority. Successful district-level initiatives for road safety should be adopted as best practices. He also emphasised focusing on AI and technology-based traffic management systems and directed that traffic systems in all districts be operated in automated mode.
He said that road widening at identified black spots should be completed on priority. First Responder Training Programs should be organized regularly to train the public for accident prevention and quick assistance. Special attention should be given to the installation and maintenance of crash barriers on mountain routes.
Suitable stopping points for vehicles should be developed at locations that provide basic amenities for people. For this, the Transport and Tourism Departments should coordinate and create a plan. Considering the upcoming winter travel season and the forthcoming Char Dham and Nanda Raj Jaat Yatra, efforts should be expedited to strengthen traffic arrangements. Regular vigilance related to safety should be maintained at bus stands.
The Chief Minister instructed that the Transport, Police, and Public Works Departments hold monthly meetings in view of road safety. In hilly areas, the Forest Department and district administration should undertake plantation work along roadsides. The Chief Minister also honoured individuals who performed commendable work in road safety.
The programme was attended by Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Secretaries Shailesh Bagoli, Brijesh Kumar Sant, V. Shanmugam, Additional Director General of Police Dr. V. Murugeshan, IG Rajeev Swaroop, Transport Commissioner Reena Joshi, Additional Secretaries Vineet Kumar and Rohit Meena, along with officials from concerned departments.
