Prashant Kishor Slams Bihar Poll Outcome, Announces Statewide Outreach After Silent Fast

Patna, Nov 2025 : Jan Suraaj Party Chief Prashant Kishor on Friday sharply criticised the Bihar Assembly election results, calling them a “grave injustice” to the people and alleging widespread bribery of voters. He claimed that thousands of poor families were handed ₹10,000 each in exchange for votes – an act he said undermined democratic values and violated the Constitutional ideals laid down by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Responding to the results, Kishor stated, “These outcomes are an injustice to democracy. A significant number of poor families were bribed with ₹10,000 each. This is a blatant violation of democracy and the fundamental spirit of the Constitution established by B.R. Ambedkar.” He added that such results were difficult to accept, asserting that Jan Suraaj would continue to fight vigorously to safeguard the rights and expectations of the people.

As a mark of protest, Kishor observed a day-long silent fast at the historic Bhitiharwa Gandhi Ashram in West Champaran on November 20. He concluded his fast at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, with schoolgirls offering him juice to mark the end of his silence. Following this, he addressed the media and outlined his next steps.

Drawing inspiration from Gandhian methods, Kishor announced a renewed mass outreach initiative aimed at building deeper public engagement across Bihar. Beginning January 15, he will embark on a statewide campaign under the banner of the “Bihar Navnirman Sankalp Abhiyan”, during which he plans to visit all 1.18 lakh wards across the state. The initiative, he said, is intended to hold the government accountable for its promises and strengthen communication at the grassroots level.

Reaffirming his personal commitment to the cause, Kishor declared what he described as a “moral and social pledge.” He announced that he will donate 90 percent of his income over the next five years to Jan Suraaj. From the assets he has accumulated over the past two decades, he will retain only a single residence for himself; the remaining property, he said, will be donated to the movement.

“I will not leave Bihar and will fully dedicate myself to this mission,” he asserted, emphasising that the Jan Suraaj movement goes beyond politics. According to Kishor, it represents a larger moral and social struggle aimed at transforming governance and restoring public trust.

With his renewed campaign set to begin early next year, Kishor reiterated that Jan Suraaj will continue to champion the concerns of ordinary citizens and challenge practices that, he claims, threaten the integrity of Bihar’s democracy.
