SCERT Hosts Poetry Festival 2025

Aizawl, December 2025: The Poetry Festival 2025 was held today at the SCERT Auditorium. The festival began at 10:00 AM, inaugurated by Dr. Lalduhawmi Thomte, Joint Director, SCERT. Around 60 students from 11 different schools participated in reciting original poems.

This annual festival has been organized by SCERT since 2011, making this the 14th edition. The event was formally presided over by Dr. Lalduhawmi Thomte, Joint Director, Pi Lalnunsiami, Deputy Director, Pi Cecillia K. Lalremruati, Deputy Director, and Pu PC Vanlalruata, Deputy Director.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at 2:00 PM, led by Dr. Lalduhawmi Thomte, Joint Director, SCERT. Pi Caroline Zoramthangi, Director of SCERT, addressed the gathering, praising the students for their impressive performances. She noted that students’ efforts in language proficiency and expression were commendable, and encouraged them to continue honing their literary skills. The students’ talent in poetry, along with their discipline and creativity, was highly appreciated.

The awards were presented as follows:

  • First Prize: William Lalchhanchhuaha, Class XII (Arts), Helen Lowry HSS – Rs. 5,000 and a trophy
  • Second Prize: Linzy Malsawmkimi, Class XI (Science), Mount Carmel HSS – Rs. 4,000 and a trophy
  • Third Prize: Lalmawizuali, Class XI (Science), St. Paul’s HSS – Rs. 3,000 and a trophy

Additionally, five consolation prizes were awarded to:

  • K. Vanlalhruaizela, Class XII (Science), Synod HSS
  • Malsawmzami Hauhnar, Class XI (Arts), Govt. Mizo HSS
  • Emma Liansangpuii, Class XI (Arts), St. Joseph HSS
  • Lalhriatpuia, Class XI (Arts), Public HSS
  • Emmanuel Laldinliana, Class XII (Science), St. Stephen’s HSS

In his concluding remarks, Pu PC Vanlalruata, Deputy Director, SCERT, congratulated all the participants and noted that the festival was successfully conducted, highlighting the importance of promoting literary and creative talents among students.
