CM Dhami Highlights Uttarakhand’s Cultural Strength, Economic Progress at Mahakouthig in Noida
Gautam Buddha Nagar, Dec 2025 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday highlighted the vital role of cultural events like Mahakouthig in preserving the state’s rich heritage and uniting people from Uttarakhand living across the country. Addressing the seven-day Mahakouthig event at Noida Stadium, organised by the Parvatiya Cultural Society, Dhami said it was encouraging to see how expatriate Uttarakhandis have continued to uphold their folk traditions, cultural practices, and community ties despite residing outside the state. He described them as “true brand ambassadors” of Uttarakhand, who proudly carry forward their identity and connect younger generations to their roots.
Dhami said Mahakouthig was far more than a cultural celebration—calling it a vibrant platform that reflects the true soul of Uttarakhand. He stressed that such events play a critical role in bridging the gap between the older and younger generations, helping young people understand the customs, attire, music, dance, and values that define Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand’s folk songs, dances, and art forms hold deep historical and emotional significance, offering a window into the cultural consciousness of the hill state.
He also said that Mahakouthig helps promote Uttarakhand’s unique products on a wider scale, both across India and abroad. Dhami pointed out that traditional mountain products—such as pure Badri cow ghee, a variety of millets, and organic farm goods—are increasingly finding new markets and gaining recognition. He noted that such platforms encourage handicrafts, handloom, traditional costumes, and local art, helping artisans and farmers improve their livelihoods.
Highlighting Uttarakhand’s development journey, Dhami said that the state has secured the first rank in the country for increasing farmers’ income and has received a national award for outstanding performance in fisheries development. He added that Uttarakhand continues to maintain a strong position in NITI Aayog’s SDG Index report, ranking first in achieving major Sustainable Development Goals. He said the state has been listed as an ‘Achiever’ in ease of doing business and a ‘Leader’ in startup rankings.
Dhami emphasized that the government remains firmly committed to preserving Uttarakhand’s cultural and social unity. He said strict laws have been implemented to prevent illegal religious conversions, divisive activities, and encroachment on government land. He noted that major infrastructure projects—including the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, All-Weather Road, Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, Bharatmala, and Parvatmala—are progressing rapidly. Initiatives like the House of Himalaya brand, One District-Two Products scheme, new tourism and film policies, and investment promotion campaigns are strengthening the state’s economic foundation.
Thanking the Parvatiya Cultural Society for organizing Mahakouthig, Dhami urged Uttarakhand NRIs to contribute actively to the state’s development and help carry its cultural pride to the global stage.
