British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron pays a Courtesy Visit to CM Patel

Gandhinagar : British High Commissioner to India Ms. Lindy Cameron paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar. This was her first visit to Gujarat since assuming office. Chief Minister extended a warm welcome to the British High Commissioner. 

During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the relationship between India and Britain is being strengthened, with Gujarat committed to advancing this progress further. He also mentioned that the Prime Minister has realized the mantra of Sauno Sath, Sauno Vikas (inclusive development) through a policy of collective progress.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel informed the British High Commissioner that Gujarat is a leader in the renewable energy sector. He noted that the world’s largest hybrid energy park is being constructed in Kutch and emphasized Gujarat’s growing global presence in emerging fields like green hydrogen. In response, Ms. Lindy Cameron conveyed her interest in advancing collaboration with Britain in the renewable energy sector. She also shared insights about the significant contribution of the Indian diaspora and Gujarati communities to the business world in Britain. The British High Commissioner expressed a strong willingness to welcome and support industrial investors from Gujarat who are interested in investing in Britain.

The British High Commissioner expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister and the state government for their support of British enterprises in Gujarat. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel assured that the state government would offer substantial support to British industries, including help with establishing facilities in Gujarat. In their discussion, the British High Commissioner outlined how Gujarat could benefit from Britain’s expertise in cybersecurity and provided details about the collaboration with NFSU in this domain. Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel also mentioned that Gujarat is preparing to host the 2036 Olympics and conveyed hope that the state would gain valuable insights from Britain’s experience in planning major events.

Chief Minister sought advice on how the infrastructure and logistics for the Olympics can be designed to provide long-term benefits for the people after the Games. Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri M.K. Das, Principal Secretary of Industries Smt. Mamta Verma, Commissioner of Industries Shri Sandip Sangle, and MD of iNDEXTb Shri Gaurang Makwana attended the meeting.
