Pre-Budget Discussion with Tribal Development Stakeholders: Preserving Tribal Culture and Boosting Tourism – CM Bhajanlal Sharma
Jaipur, January 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma stated that tribal culture is an invaluable heritage of our society. The state government, inspired by Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s Antyodaya vision, is prioritizing the overall upliftment of tribal communities.
On Friday, the CM held a pre-budget discussion with tribal development stakeholders at the Chief Minister’s Office. He emphasized that organizations working in the social sector are closely connected with the community and well aware of its challenges and needs. He assured that suggestions from the tribal sector would be incorporated into the upcoming budget to accelerate tribal welfare.
Connecting the New Generation with Tribal Culture
CM Sharma said the state government is not only preserving tribal culture and heritage but also promoting tourism. The government is supporting livelihood initiatives, such as purchasing flower powders (gulal) prepared by tribal women. Baneswar Dham and Mangadh Dham are being developed under the Tribal Tourist Circuit. Efforts are also underway to enhance the grand tribal fairs at the confluence of the Som, Mahi, and Jakham rivers in Baneswar Dham, connecting the younger generation with tribal history and culture.
Recognizing Tribal Pride
The CM highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PM-Janman campaign was launched in 2023 on Birsa Munda Jayanti (Tribal Pride Day), integrating 11 schemes across 9 ministries for the benefit of tribal communities. In Baran district, nearly 11,000 PM houses, over 16,000 electricity connections, 3,760 drinking water connections, 12 multipurpose centers, and 11 link roads have been completed. Additionally, 21 new hostels, 51 Anganwadi centers, and 51 Van Dhan centers have been approved.
Holistic Development of Tribal Villages
CM Sharma said that under the Dharti Aba Tribal Village Utkarshta Campaign, tribal-dominated villages are being developed through housing, roads, electricity, water, education, health, agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. Over 6,000 villages have been selected, benefiting nearly 5.5 million tribal citizens. Under the ongoing Adi Karmayogi campaign, more than 117,000 workers, collaborators, and volunteers have been trained.
Supporting Tribal Farmers
The CM stated that the Tribal Development Fund allocation has been increased from ₹1,000 crore to ₹1,750 crore. Monuments for tribal heroes are being constructed in Dungarpur and Banswara, along with the Veer Balika Kalibai Museum in Udaipur. In the past two years, 9 Ashram hostels, 3 residential schools, 1 new sports hostel, and 240 new Anganwadi centers have been approved in tribal areas. Mess allowances in hostels and residential schools have been set at ₹3,250 per month. Additionally, 50,000 tribal farmers were provided with vegetable seed mini-kits for the Kharif and Rabi 2025–26 seasons.
During the meeting, social workers and organizations from Udaipur, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Banswara, Salumber, Baran, Sirohi, and other districts suggested measures to improve education, healthcare, infrastructure, employment, irrigation, and overall tribal welfare.
The meeting was attended by Tribal Area Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Abhay Kumar, ACS Chief Minister’s Office Akhil Arora, ACS Tribal Development Kunjilal Meena, Principal Secretary Finance Vaibhav Galleria, senior officials, and tribal representatives.
