PM Narendra Modi Thanks Tamil Nadu Voters, Congratulates C. Joseph Vijay’s TVK on Strong Debut

Chennai, May 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday thanked the people of Tamil Nadu for their support to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2026 Assembly elections, while also congratulating actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), for their impressive electoral performance.

In a message shared on social media after the announcement of results, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to voters across the state for placing their trust in the NDA. He reiterated that the alliance remains committed to addressing public concerns and ensuring that governance continues to prioritise development and welfare.

“Gratitude to the voters of Tamil Nadu who supported the NDA in the Assembly elections. We will always remain at the forefront in addressing people’s issues and improving their lives,” Modi said.

His remarks come at a time when the election results point to a major shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. The debutant TVK has emerged as a significant force, challenging the long-standing dominance of traditional Dravidian parties and signalling changing voter preferences in the state.

Acknowledging this transformation, the Prime Minister extended his congratulations to Vijay and his party, describing their electoral showing as “impressive.” The recognition reflects an acceptance of the evolving political dynamics in Tamil Nadu, where new leadership and narratives are gaining traction among the electorate.

Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to the state, Modi emphasised that the Union government would continue to focus on Tamil Nadu’s growth and the welfare of its people. He assured that efforts would be intensified to promote infrastructure development, economic expansion, and social welfare initiatives.

“The Centre will leave no stone unturned in furthering the progress of Tamil Nadu and the well-being of its people,” he added.

The Prime Minister’s message highlights the NDA’s intent to maintain and strengthen its engagement with Tamil Nadu, even as the state witnesses the rise of a new political contender in TVK. It also underscores a broader political moment, where electoral outcomes are reshaping alliances and redefining the contours of governance in one of India’s most politically significant states.
