Introducing New Generation to Legacy of Samrat Vikramaditya is Essential : CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the courage and creativity of Samrat Vikramaditya established new benchmarks of valor and organisation, making a significant contribution to enriching Indian culture. He emphasised that Vikramotsav, dedicated to Samrat Vikramaditya, must ensure an effective and comprehensive presentation of all dimensions of his personality. Introducing the new generation to the contributions of Samrat Vikramaditya is essential for maintaining the continuity of Indian knowledge systems and cultural traditions. Vikramotsav stands as a powerful symbol of the historical heritage and cultural consciousness.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that the event be organised with complete grandeur, excellent arrangements and the highest standards of cultural dignity. He issued these instructions while reviewing the preparations for Vikramotsav-2026 to be held in Ujjain, during a meeting at Samatva Bhavan (Chief Minister’s Residence). He conducted a detailed review of the overall framework of the event, arrangements and inter-departmental coordination. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Shri Anupam Rajan, Additional Chief Secretary (Culture) Shri Shivshekhar Shukla and other senior officials.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed that the grand theatrical production Vikramaditya Mahanaatya also be staged in major cities of the State and other States. He instructed that general knowledge competitions on Samrat Vikramaditya be organised in schools and colleges. The Chief Minister said that during Vikramotsav-2026, being celebrated under the Farmer Welfare Year-2026 in Ujjain, agriculture-focused exhibitions and activities should be organised. Activities promoting natural farming, crop residue management, competitions for healthy milk-producing cattle and horticulture should be included.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also directed that science colleges, engineering colleges and polytechnic institutes be associated with events highlighting the scientific aspects of Samrat Vikramaditya. He emphasised ensuring the participation of the Government of India in the Samrat Vikramaditya Award and giving it a grand and national character.

- February 15, 2026: Shivarchan showcasing the arts of Anadi Dev Shiva; inauguration of all Shivratri fairs of Madhya Pradesh; Kalash Yatra; formal inauguration of Vikramotsav-2026; Shivo’ham musical presentation by Pritam and band; Shivnaad.
- Exhibitions: Vikramaditya and Ayodhya, Arsha Bharat, weapons and armaments, 84 Mahadevs, and a composite exhibition on Tribal Devalok.
- Vikram Trade Fair.
- February 16–20: Shiv Purana.
- February 16–25: National and international theatrical performances under the Vikram Theatre Festival.
- February 26–28: International History Conclave, Puppet Festival, and International Research Symposium.
- February 28–March 1: Intellectual conclave on justice during the era of Vikramaditya.
- March 2: All-India Poets’ Conference.
- March 7: Lokranjan – All-India Poets’ Conference on Samrat Vikramaditya in various dialects.
- March 10–12: Anhad intellectual conclave on the origin and evolution of music.
- March 13–14: International Research Symposium.
- March 13–17: International Festival of Mythological Films featuring entries from more than 20 countries.
- March 17–18: Indian Science Research Symposium.

March 19, marking Varsh Pratipada and Srishti Aarambh Diwas, will be celebrated as Ujjayini Gaurav Diwas. The main event will be held on the banks of the Shipra River and will include the presentation of the Samrat Vikramaditya Award, release of the Vikram Panchang 2082-83 and the second edition of Arsha Bharat, along with the dance-drama Mahadev Ki Nadi Katha. Renowned playback singer Sonu Nigam will give a musical performance, and a grand fireworks display will also be held. On Gudi Padwa, Vikramotsav will be organised across all districts of the State.
Principal Secretary (Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion) Shri Raghavendra Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Dr. Ilaiyaraaja T, Commissioner (Public Relations) Shri Deepak Kumar Saxena and other officials were present during meeting. Public representatives and officials from Ujjain also joined the meeting through video conferencing.
