Jaipur to be Developed as Signal-Free City: CM Secretary V. Srinivas Emphasizes Coordinated Urban Planning
Jaipur, January 2026: Chief Secretary V. Srinivas directed officials to ensure well-planned urban development in Rajasthan through coordination, transparency, and timely implementation during a state-level review meeting at the Rajasthan International Centre. Emphasizing future-ready planning, he urged the adoption of long-term, creative, and effective strategies to address the challenges of rapid urbanization.
The meeting reviewed urban development projects and policies to make cities structured, transparent, and aligned with future needs. Key regulatory frameworks, including the Rajasthan Township Policy, Land Allocation Policy, and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Policy–2025, were discussed for effective and coordinated implementation. Srinivas stressed that planned and integrated approaches are essential for sustainable urban growth.
Highlighting the importance of traffic management, he instructed officials to work on practical proposals to develop Jaipur as a signal-free city, noting that modern urban transport systems would save time and fuel while improving citizens’ quality of life.
The Chief Secretary also emphasized the need for impact assessment of building regulations, both before and after policy implementation, to evaluate their real effects on citizens and urban structures. He stressed timely third-party inspections in construction projects to maintain quality, safety, and transparency.
Improving office efficiency was another focus. Srinivas instructed the timely disposal of unnecessary records to enhance productivity and accelerate decision-making. He also directed officials to maintain cleanliness across all offices.
On government land management, he instructed priority resolution of pending high-value land cases, highlighting the importance of protecting state assets and ensuring proper utilization for revenue and public interest.
He reiterated that interdepartmental coordination, transparency, and timely action must remain top priorities to ensure Rajasthan’s urban development is smart, sustainable, and citizen-centric.
The meeting was attended by Debashish Prashti, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development & Housing Department, Siddharth Mahajan, Commissioner of Jaipur Development Authority, and other senior officials.
