New identity of women empowerment: Nikita builds a brick business on a ₹25 lakh loan

Dreams take flight through the brick industry; becomes a symbol of self-reliance by providing employment to 25 people

Implements the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh’ on ground; becomes a successful entrepreneur through a government scheme

Lucknow: March 2026 : Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, vision of building a self-reliant state is now clearly visible at the grassroots level. Government schemes in state are no longer limited to paper but are empowering youth and women in villages by giving them a new identity. One such inspiring example is Nikita Verma from Lakhimpur Kheri, who has not only become self-reliant but has also created employment for many others.

A resident of Shahpur Raja village in Lakhimpur Kheri, Nikita Verma started a cement brick manufacturing business, which has now become the foundation of her success. She availed a loan of ₹25 lakh under ‘Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Srijan Karyakram’ (PMEGP) to establish her enterprise. Her plant produces around 5,000 to 7,000 bricks per day, earning her a monthly profit of approximately ₹1 lakh.

Through her business, Nikita has provided employment to 25 people. Her monthly income exceeds ₹1 lakh, making her not only a symbol of personal success but also a strong example of local economic development. Her efforts have created new employment opportunities in the village. Nikita’s story is not just about entrepreneurial success but also a powerful example of women’s empowerment. Women like her are not only supporting their families but also playing a vital role in the progress of society and state.

‘Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Srijan Karyakram’ (PMEGP) is a major credit-linked subsidy scheme of Government of India that generates self-employment opportunities by establishing new micro-enterprises in both rural and urban areas. It is implemented through the Khadi and Village Industries Commission under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. This scheme is proving to be highly effective in encouraging youth towards self-employment and strengthening them financially. Today, such initiatives are transforming the lives of thousands of young people across the country.
