Iran Condemns Terrorist Attack On Residence Of Iraqi Kurdistan President.

Tehran; March 2026: Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has condemned the terrorist attack on the residence of the president of Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. Araghchi has made the remarks yesterday on 28th March 2026 after Iraqi media reported that a drone attack had targeted Kurdish President Nechirvan Barzani’s home in Duhok, northwest of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region.

Wishing that Barzani is well, Araghchi referred to the long history of the United States and the Zionist regime in creating sedition and sowing discord among regional and neighbouring countries, including through false flag operations.

He also reminded all governments and international institutions of their responsibility to punish the US and Israel and hold both regimes accountable for their brutal aggression against Iran, as well as illegal and terrorist attacks on Iraq.

While reiterating that the US-Israeli alliance, poses a grave threat to global peace the Islamic Republic of Iran Army condemned the incident as “aggressive, criminal, and despicable”. As a gross violation of international law, the US-Israeli attack disrespects Kurdistan’s national security, it noted.

It is also the continuation of acts of evil and malevolence by the global arrogance and the Zionist regime against regional peace and security, it added. The Army said, “Undoubtedly, the American-Zionist alliance poses a dangerous threat to global security and peace while considering no value for international law and regulations”.

Meanwhile, it called on the United Nations Security Council to honour its responsibility towards countering threats to international peace amid persistent US-Israeli terrorist and aggressive acts.

Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) denounced the attack as “a clear example of a terrorist act by aggressor enemies”. The incident follows a pattern of “cowardly assassinations” of senior Iranian officials by the US and Israel, the elite military force added. The enemies’ “malicious efforts” are aimed at undermining peace, stability, and regional cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and neighbouring states.

The IRGC further expressed its full readiness to defend Iran’s neighbouring countries through a “collective defense shield” and enhanced regional security cooperation to counter the aggressors.

In the wake of the assassination attempt, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani ordered the formation of a security-technical team tasked with investigating the incident and identifying its perpetrators.

Since February 28th, when the US and Israel launched their unprovoked aggression against Iran, the pair have conducted several false flag operations aimed at smearing Iran and provoking its neighbours.

The Iranian armed forces have responded to the illegal military assault by launching almost daily missile and drone operations targeting locations in the Israeli-occupied territories as well as US military bases and assets across the region.

Furthermore, the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly condemned the assassination of three prominent Lebanese journalists in an Israeli drone strike, saying that the Tel Aviv regime’s main goal is to “assassinate truth”.

“The martyrdom of Ali Shuaib, Mohammed Fatouni and Fatima Fatouni, the courageous correspondents of al-Manar and al-Mayadeen television channels, in a terrorist attack carried out by the cowardly Zionist regime, not only marks a deep wound on the regional and world media community, but also sounds a serious alarm for the global consciousness”, he wrote in a message published today a few while ago.

He said that the move clearly constitutes a targeted assassination and stands much beyond the simple motive of eliminating certain individuals, adding that it is rather an explicit attempt to “assassinate truth and silence the voices which narrate facts”. Araghchi noted that the Israeli regime has a long record of targeting members of the press, and the latest intentional and criminal act is in blatant violation of international law and conventions regarding the protection of journalists in conflict zones.

He stated that international regulations have failed to restrain the viciousness of the Israeli regime, and repetition of such crimes reveals the continuation of an aggressive approach aimed at limiting freedom of speech.

The top Iranian diplomat vehemently censured the Israeli assassination of the Lebanese journalists and appealed for proper and effective international measures to protect correspondents and bring those responsible to justice. He also expressed his most sincere condolences to the families of the victims and their colleagues over the tragic loss.

According to Lebanese media outlets, an Israeli drone fired at least four missiles at a sedan as it was traveling along a road on the outskirts of the town of Jezzine in southern Lebanon on Saturday afternoon, killing all three people onboard.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun strongly denounced the Israeli act of aggression, vowing that the Beirut government will explore all international channels to stop repeated attacks by the usurping regime on the Lebanese territories.

Palestinian resistance factions, particularly Hamas, also condemned the attack, saying it exposed the criminal approach being exercised by the occupying Israeli regime against journalists.
