Scientific Reintroduction of Blackbucks in Barnawapara Sanctuary: 34 Released in Two Phases
Raipur, March 2026: Blackbucks have been successfully reintroduced into their natural habitat in the Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary using scientific methods. A total of 34 blackbucks were safely released in two phases from the Blackbuck Conservation Centre located within the sanctuary. The target for this year is to reintroduce 60 blackbucks.
The translocation process was carried out strictly following scientific protocols, ensuring that the animals were released into the forest without any disturbance. The released blackbucks have now joined the existing population residing in the Rampur grassland area.
