Adopt an online system for fisheries lease allotment: CM directs officials
Lucknow : On Monday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the Fisheries department officials to prioritize local communities in the allocation of leases for ponds.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining purity and transparency in the lease allotment process, he called for the simplification of fisheries regulations. The Chief Minister also instructed the department to create a portal to streamline the lease allocation process.
During a meeting with a delegation of Fisheries Cooperative Societies officials, attended by Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of departmental schemes.
He noted, “The livelihood of a large portion of the state’s population has traditionally depended on fisheries. Therefore, when allocating leases for reservoirs such as ponds, preference should be given to local members of this community.”
He also stressed the importance of conducting a campaign for lease allotment, noting that the revenue generated from these leases would contribute to increasing the income of the respective Gram Panchayats.
The Chief Minister further emphasized that the Fisheries Department, Fisheries Cooperative Societies, and Fish Seed Development Corporation should widely promote the government’s efforts to develop the fisheries sector through seminars, symposia, discussions, and other means.
