Serchhip LAD Secretary Addresses Village Councils

Serchhip : Today, Ms. Teresy Vanlalhruaii, Secretary of the Local Administration Department (LAD), held a meeting at the Pisa Pui Hall in Serchhip Town with representatives from the Village Councils.

During the meeting, Secretary Teresy Vanlalhruaii discussed various matters with the Village Councils (VCs). She highlighted the importance of understanding local challenges and emphasized the need for better communication and cooperation among VCs to address these issues. She stated that substantial efforts had been made since 2021-22, particularly following the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, which have provided additional resources for development. She also mentioned the successful implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission (G), encouraging the VCs to continue their efforts at the field level to ensure effective sanitation and waste management in their villages.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Paul L. Khuma remarked that rural development must focus on enhancing living conditions in villages. He emphasized, “If we do not focus on improving our villages, the development potential will remain unfulfilled.” He also stressed the importance of education and vocational training, stating that it is crucial for youth to gain skills that enhance their employability.

Dr. C. Vanlalchhanhimi, DLAO, spoke about various initiatives in the Serchhip District, highlighting the importance of cooperation among local authorities. She mentioned the progress made in District Park 2-Dawngzawl and Thenzawl, where improvements are ongoing. The meeting also discussed the need for effective Gram Sabhas to facilitate local governance and community participation.

Today’s program underscored the government’s commitment to supporting the Village Councils in their developmental efforts. Mr. V. Lalnuntluanga from e-DPMU Serchhip also shared some insights during the meeting.
