Over Six Lakh Applications Eligible for the ‘Mukhyamantri Vayoshree Yojana’ in Maharashtra
Mumbai : The ‘Mukhyamantri Vayoshree Yojana,’ a scheme for senior citizens aged 65 and above, is being implemented by the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance. Under this scheme, a one-time financial assistance of ₹3,000 is provided to eligible individuals. A total of 6,25,139 applications have been approved across the state.
The breakdown of eligible applications by division is as follows: 63,090 in Mumbai, 1,12,761 in Nashik, 91,625 in Pune, 1,32,758 in Amravati, 1,10,455 in Nagpur, 42,976 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and 71,474 in Latur.
This scheme provides financial assistance of ₹3,000 to senior citizens to purchase essential aids and equipment needed to help them maintain a normal lifestyle despite age-related disabilities or infirmities. The assistance also covers awareness programs and training sessions aimed at preserving mental health through mental health centers, yoga therapy centers, and similar institutions.
Eligible beneficiaries can use the funds to purchase assistive devices tailored to their physical needs, including glasses, hearing aids, tripods, walking sticks, wheelchairs, folding walkers, commode chairs, knee braces, lumbar belts, and cervical collars. They can also participate in activities at state-registered yoga therapy centers, mental health centers, and mind-shakti/training centers.
