Meghalaya Governor Chandrasekhar H. Vijayashankar Meets Dhangar Beda Community Members

Amravati – Meghalaya Governor Chandrasekhar H. Vijayashankar arrived at the Amravati Rest House this morning, where he was welcomed with a salute by the police department. Present on the occasion were Padma Shri Dr. Vikas Mahatme, President of the Dhangar Development Forum Santosh Mahatme, Collector Saurabh Katiyar, Police Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Divisional Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Pawar, Municipal Commissioner Sachin Kalantre, Resident Deputy Collector Anil Bhatkar, Sub-Conservator of Forests Sumant Solanke, Assistant Conservator of Forests Dnyaneshwar Desai, Forest Range Officer B. R. Pawar, as well as Sub-Divisional Officer of Chandur Railway Tejaswini Kore, Tehsildar Pooja Matode, and other dignitaries.

Later, Governor Vijayashankar visited Dhangar Beda in Chandur Railway Taluka, where he worshipped the flag of Shri Khandoba, the deity of the Dhangar community. In a traditional ceremony, the Dhangar Beda community brothers felicitated the Governor with a shawl and a Shrifal (coconut). Traditional dances were also performed by men and women on the occasion. Governor Vijayashankar then engaged in a dialogue with members of the Dhangar community.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating the nomadic community into mainstream society. “Community representatives should visit the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on a fixed day to present their concerns. I will work closely with Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan to address your issues. We will make every effort to ensure essential services for all community members, including housing, road construction, education, healthcare, and other necessary facilities under government schemes,” said Governor Vijayashankar.

He also assured the community of support from the Forest Department and stressed the importance of preparing essential government documents such as Aadhaar and PAN cards for those living in remote areas. Following the program, the Governor departed for Nagpur.
