Governor Urges Officials to Prioritize Tribal Welfare for Effective Implementation of Government Schemes
Jaipur : Governor Haribhau Bagde has directed officials to prioritize tribal welfare in their work to ensure the effective implementation of central and state government schemes in tribal areas.
Governor Shri Bagde was addressing a review meeting with district-level officials in Udaipur on Saturday. He stressed that without increasing the income of the tribal community and the economically disadvantaged, true integrated development cannot be achieved. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that every child from poor and nomadic families, including Scheduled Castes and Tribes, has access to education. He instructed Panchayat-level personnel to guarantee 100% school enrollment for these children.
Crop Procurement Arrangements:
Expressing satisfaction with the recent good rainfall in the region, the Governor noted that a strong monsoon has created favorable conditions for a good harvest. He stressed the importance of establishing an efficient system for crop procurement at the government level so that farmers receive fair prices for their labor.
He also emphasized the need to assess tribal-specific targets and beneficiaries for every development scheme to ensure that the benefits reach all eligible and underserved individuals.
Benefits of the Forest Rights Act:
While reviewing leases granted under the Forest Rights Act, the Governor acknowledged that although leases are issued for forest land, people often face practical challenges such as securing electricity connections and digging wells. Governor’s Secretary Dr. Prithviraj instructed officials from the Forest and Revenue Departments to ensure that the provisions of the Forest Rights Act are properly implemented, enabling tribal communities to fully benefit.
Ensuring Internet Services at Panchayat Headquarters:
The Governor inquired about the availability of internet services at Gram Panchayat headquarters in the district. He stated that it is not enough to simply provide internet access; officials must ensure that people at the Panchayat headquarters are benefiting from these services. E-Mitra services should be made fully available at Panchayat Bhavans.
Sickle Cell Anemia Report Requested:
During the meeting, the Governor requested information on cases of sickle cell anemia in the district, including actions taken and progress made. He directed that a detailed report be submitted to the Raj Bhavan within a week.
Access to Ration Supplies:
The Governor also discussed issues related to ration distribution in the district. He noted that many families still have to travel long distances to access ration materials and urged efforts to ensure that ration supplies are available within a maximum radius of 1 km.
District Collector Arvind Poswal provided an update on various schemes implemented in Udaipur district, including the Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Scheme, PM Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, among others.
The Governor also reviewed incidents of wildlife deaths in the region. He described these incidents as tragic and instructed officials to take effective measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. He also called for action to translocate wildlife as per regulations and suggested exploring ways to protect farmland near forest areas, with guidance from higher authorities.
