Health Minister Pi Lallrinpuii Leads World Pharmacists Day 2024 Celebration
Aizawl : Today, World Pharmacists Day is being celebrated worldwide. In Mizoram, the Mizoram State Pharmacy Council organized an event at the Bawngkawn South YMA Hall, Aizawl, to mark this special day under the theme, “Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs.” The event was presided over by Pi Lallrinpuii, Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Mizoram, as the chief guest.
During her address, Minister Pi Lallrinpuii emphasized the importance and responsibilities of pharmacists. She spoke about the vital role pharmacists play not only in the preparation of medicines but also in administering the right medications to patients, using their specialized knowledge and training. She urged pharmacists to continue making meaningful contributions to the community by using their expertise for the betterment of public health. She also highlighted the importance of having skilled pharmacists in District Hospitals who are proficient in the field of medicine. Furthermore, she encouraged pharmacists to continue utilizing their knowledge to help combat the rising cases of drug addiction and HIV in Mizoram, urging them to work closely with the government and other agencies in these efforts.
The event was chaired by Dr. H. Lalhlenmawia, Vice President of the Mizoram State Pharmacy Council. MSPC President Pu Lalsawma also spoke, calling for pharmacists and students in the field to further enhance their skills and continue working toward providing safe and effective medicines to the public. Dr. Lalnunpuii gave an informative presentation on the global theme for this year’s World Pharmacists Day, “Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs,” emphasizing the crucial role of pharmacists in improving global health outcomes.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Pu F. Lalliantluanga, an Executive Committee Member of the MPSC.
World Pharmacists Day has been celebrated annually since 1992 under the initiative of the International Federation of Pharmacists. The event was attended by representatives from the Department of Pharmacy, RIPANS, Laithangpuii College of Pharmacy, Mizoram Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, as well as key members and important guests from the Mizoram Pharmacy Council.
