TN CM Stalin Inaugurates ₹69.32 Cr Fire & Forensic Facilities.
At a cost of ₹56.27 crore under the Railways, ₹18.78 crore under the Fire and Rescue Department, and ₹3.76 crore under the Department of Forensic Sciences, various constructions have been completed. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, inaugurated these facilities today at the Secretariat, Kelthurai.
The facilities include the construction of 169 staff quarters, 2 railway stations, and 2 railway department buildings at a cost of ₹56 crore, 26 lakh, and 70 thousand. Additionally, under the Fire and Rescue Department, 10 quarters and 7 observatory buildings have been built at a cost of ₹18 crore, 78 lakh, and 26 thousand. Further, the Forensic Science Genome Commission Unit was constructed at a cost of ₹3 crore, 75 lakh, and 60 thousand.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Railways and related departments not only work on enhancing public transportation but also focus on creating safe environments for all. Under his guidance, several projects have been implemented, including the construction of quarters for staff, upgrading safety equipment, and improving facilities for both the railway and fire departments.
From 2021 to the present, the Tamil Nadu government has spent ₹461.62 crore to build 2,786 staff quarters, ₹55.04 crore for 47 railway station buildings, and ₹98.91 crore for 16 other departmental buildings. Under the “Your Own Home” scheme, ₹55.19 crore has been spent on 253 flats for the accommodation of railway and fire department staff.
Today’s inauguration marks the completion of these projects, including newly constructed apartments and station buildings across districts such as Kanyakumari, Pudukkottai, and Chengalpattu, benefiting employees in these regions.
At a cost of ₹35.93 crore, 22 fire-fighting and rescue operation buildings have been constructed, along with 2 additional departmental buildings at a cost of ₹2.45 crore, bringing the total expenditure to ₹69.32 crore. These new facilities have been inaugurated today by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin.
The newly constructed facilities for fire-fighting and rescue operations include:
- Kadani Mettam: 2 buildings at Kapadinayakanur, providing 10 staff quarters at a cost of ₹34,000.
- Gadhana Mettam (Thiagaraya Nagar and Maili): 6 buildings constructed at a cost of ₹80 lakh and 16 thousand.
- Madurara Mettam (Meenakshi Amman Kakavil and Kallikkudi): 2 buildings built at a cost of ₹71 lakh and 97 thousand.
- Namakkal Mettam (Sakallimaralai): 1 building constructed at a cost of ₹79 to 68 thousand.
- Thanjavur Mettam (Thirureyaru and Thirukkatupalli): 5 buildings constructed at a cost of ₹34 lakh and 11 thousand.
In total, 7 fire-fighting and rescue stations have been constructed, significantly enhancing the department’s infrastructure. These facilities, built at a total cost of ₹18 crore, 78 lakh, and 26 thousand, were officially inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Additionally, the Forensic Science Genome Commission Division building, constructed at Thanjavur for the Department of Forensic Science, was inaugurated. This facility, built at a cost of ₹75 lakh and 60 thousand, will serve as a vital part of the forensic science infrastructure.
The event was attended by senior officials including Mr. Thalilama, Secretary of E.A.P., Mr. Dheeraj Kumar, Additional Secretary of Internal Affairs, Mr. Abash Kumar, Director of Fire Fighting and Rescue Operations, and Mr. Lekhaish Kumar Yadav, Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Air Home, among others.
