Mahakumbh 2025: Saints and devotees praise Yogi government’s effective management amid massive crowd

Mahakumbh Nagar : A potentially bigger disaster was averted at the Mahakumbh during the Mauni Amavasya snan on Wednesday due to effective measures in place and prompt response of the Yogi government and officials. Various saints and devotees praised the arrangements and facilities provided by the government, acknowledging that despite the overwhelming crowd, effective measures helped control the situation.

Several devotees highlighted that while the crowd surged unexpectedly, which could have led to a major tragedy, the alertness and swift action of the Yogi government, Mela administration, and police played a crucial role in containing the crisis.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally monitored the situation, receiving constant updates. As soon as he was informed about the incident in the early hours, he held a high-level emergency meeting at his official residence. Senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home), DGP, and ADG (Law & Order), were present at the meeting. The CM issued directives immediately to ensure further safety measures.

Mahant Swami Prakashanand of Shri Panch Dashnam Aavahan Akhara stated that the incident at Mahakumbh was caused by a rumor. However, the Yogi government and the police acted quickly, saving many lives. Given the size of the crowd, the situation could have been far worse. He credited the well-organized management by the Yogi government and the quick response of the Uttar Pradesh police for preventing a major disaster. He expressed his gratitude to the government for their efforts.

Prashant Agrawal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan, stated that crores of devotees from across the country and the world had gathered for the Mauni Amavasya snan. He praised the authorities for their vigilance in controlling the situation. Thanks to the dedication of government officials and law enforcement, the sacred Amrit Snan is proceeding smoothly. He urged devotees and saints to remain cautious and not believe in rumors, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the administration. He also commended the government’s efforts in ensuring a peaceful and well-managed event.

According to an eyewitness, despite the Yogi government’s foolproof arrangements for the safety of devotees during Mauni Amavasya Snan, the crowd’s unruly behavior caused the stampede like situation. They stated that if there had been no pushing and shoving, the tragedy could have been avoided. The eyewitness also criticized the opposition, accusing them of exploiting the situation for political gain.

Kumkum Srivastava, who traveled from Gopalganj, Bihar, shared her experience, saying she was pleased to attend the Mahakumbh and appreciated the Yogi government’s arrangements. However, she pointed out that the massive crowd and the negligence of some individuals contributed to the incident. She emphasized that the government had repeatedly instructed devotees to bathe at designated spots, questioning why people felt the need to rush toward Sangam Nose despite clear guidelines.
