Mungeli : With determination and hard work, one can turn dreams into reality. A remarkable example of this is Vishwanath Yadav from Badra (Tha) village in Pathariya Development Block, who once worked as a simple shepherd but is now a successful dairy entrepreneur. In 2016-17, Yadav owned just 1.5 acres of land, including his ancestral home. He used to raise one or two indigenous cows, selling 3-4 liters of milk daily to support his family. According to Dr. R.M. Tripathi, Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, Yadav availed a loan of ₹12 lakh under the State-Sponsored Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme to establish his dairy business.
Yadav shared that he expanded his dairy by including buffaloes along with cows, gradually increasing milk production. Today, he owns 26 cows and 50 buffaloes, producing 150 liters of milk per day. He sells buffalo milk in the market at ₹60 per liter and earns additional income by raising and selling buffalo calves. Recently, he sold a buffalo for ₹1.6 lakh. With consistent hard work and smart planning, he repaid his bank loan on time and is now expanding his dairy business debt-free.
The State-Sponsored Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme has completely transformed his life. With the income from dairy farming, he purchased 4.5 additional acres of land, built a dairy shed and a concrete house, acquired a tractor for farming, and bought a motorcycle for milk transportation. Today, Vishwanath Yadav is a prosperous farmer and a respected dairy entrepreneur, inspiring many young individuals to venture into dairy farming. His success story proves that with the right guidance, dedication, and determination, one can change their destiny.
