Pranab Kanya instates sanity & fervour while recommencing Basanti Puja.
As depicted in the holy “Markandeya Purana”, King Surath who after losing his kingdom and facing hardship came across Vaishya Samadhi, who also had lost his kingdom. They both had sought guidance from Sage Medha (Sumedhas), who adviced them to worship Mother Durga. Both the bereaved kings performed the worship together, which is believed to have led to the establishment of Basanti Puja. Basanti Puja is a spring festival also knowing as “Chaitra Durga Puja”.

“Rani Maa” who had unveiled the planning of this year’s celebrations, immediately entrusted the disciples to ponder upon the modalities, and as usual had a Pygmalion effect on the team of disciples who had left no stones unturned to uphold the dignity & sanity of the spiritually high nine days long celebrations. A common assumption in our culture is that emotions “just happen”; therefore, they cannot mature; but this never exemplified at Pranab Kanya because “Rani Maa” with all her motherly affection and instinctual bond have taught her disciples to discover their God-given gifts and talents while inculcating the practice of eternal emotions.

The festival at Pranab Kanya commenced with the reverence of the River Ganges – which was performed at the Jora Ghat adjacent to the Paatal Bari in Chuchura.
A cultural procession was organised by the members of the Pranab Kanya Ashram to embrace the deity which would be worshipped during this festival. The procession which demonstrated to be an unique extravaganza of human skills was carried under the legal guidance of Chandannagar Police Commissionerate. At the Clock Tower (Ghorir More) Junction of Chuchura Town, hundreds flocked to watch the peer display of “Lathi Khela – Stick Game” – a traditional Bengali martial art, a form of stick fighting which was performed by a Single Lady who has depicted the skills of several warriors alone.
The young dancers left the passer-by’s spell bound with their synchronised choreography, and impeccable limb movements.
After reaching the Ashram, the deity was organised in its place of worship.
