International Yoga Day 2025: Yoga Has United the World – A Pathway from ‘I’ to ‘We’, says PM Modi

Yoga Combines Meditation with Medication – CM Bhajanlal Sharma Performs Yoga on the Sand Dunes of Jaisalmer

Jaipur – On the occasion of the 11th International Yoga Day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma participated in the state-level event by performing yoga atop the scenic sand dunes of Khuhri, Jaisalmer. He also listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam.

Yoga: A Global Movement of Unity and Wellness

In his address, Prime Minister Modi extended his warm wishes to people across India and the world. He remarked that it was the 11th year that people globally gathered on June 21 to collectively practice yoga. He said, “Yoga is the essence of unity, and it is inspiring to see how it has brought the world together.”

Reflecting on yoga’s journey over the past decade, PM Modi recalled the historic moment when India proposed International Yoga Day at the United Nations, which received support from 175 countries — an unparalleled example of global consensus. Today, yoga has become an integral part of daily life for millions around the world.

From ‘I’ to ‘We’: Yoga as a Collective Discipline

The PM emphasized this year’s theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” — highlighting the interconnected health of all beings on the planet. “Yoga teaches us that we are not isolated individuals, but part of nature. It transforms individuals from ‘I’ to ‘We’,” he said.

He added that Indian philosophy teaches ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’ — may all be happy — a principle that drives our journey towards shared well-being. PM Modi called for transforming Yoga Day into the beginning of “Yoga for Humanity 2.0”, where inner peace becomes global policy and yoga evolves into a tool for global partnership.

He urged everyone to start their day with yoga for inner balance and called on societies to adopt yoga as a way to reduce stress and promote well-being.

Rajasthan Tops Yoga Sangam Registrations

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma highlighted that Rajasthan topped the country with 2.25 lakh registrations for the Yoga Sangam program. He praised the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” as a powerful reminder of the deep connection between personal and environmental health.

Sharma reiterated that his government is committed to holistic health and ecological well-being, and yoga represents a synthesis of tradition, modernity, heritage, and science. “Yoga is more than meditation; it is medication for all physical ailments,” he said.

Yoga: India’s Gift to the World

The CM stated that yoga, a priceless gift of Indian civilization, connects body, mind, intellect, and soul. It aligns the soul with the divine, the mind with peace, and energy with strength. He called yoga a powerful path to overcome stress, pollution, and lifestyle-related disorders.

Citing ancient traditions, he said Lord Shiva is regarded as the Adiguru of Yoga, and archaeological evidence suggests yoga postures existed in ancient India. Rishis like Maharishi Patanjali established yoga as a tradition through literature and practice.

PM Modi’s Global Impact on Yoga and Culture

CM Sharma credited PM Narendra Modi for yoga’s global recognition. In 2014, PM Modi addressed the UN General Assembly, calling yoga a journey from illness to wellness, from ‘I’ to ‘We’. The proposal to recognize June 21 as International Yoga Day received overwhelming global support, turning the occasion into a worldwide celebration.

He added that under PM Modi’s leadership, Indian cultural values are being promoted worldwide. “From the grand Ram Mandir in Ayodhya to the revamped Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, and the beautification of Kedarnath and Badrinath, PM Modi has revitalized our spiritual centers,” Sharma said.

Taking inspiration from this vision, the Rajasthan government is investing ₹100 crore to develop Tanot Mata Temple, Ramdevra, and other major religious sites in the state.

Water from the Sindhu-Chenab to Reach Rajasthan

Highlighting PM Modi’s efforts to strengthen India’s military and economic stature, CM Sharma referred to the recent Operation Sindhur, stating that India sent a strong message to Pakistan by suspending the Indus Waters Treaty. “Now, under PM Modi’s leadership, water from the Sindhu and Chenab rivers will reach Rajasthan,” he said, with work already underway on this strategic plan.

Vande Ganga Jal Abhiyan and Green Rajasthan

The CM noted that from June 5 to 20, the state successfully organized the Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan Jan Abhiyan to promote water conservation and environmental protection. Public programs like water worship, kalash yatras, cleanliness drives, and awareness campaigns were organized across rivers, ponds, and streams.

Inspired by PM Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, Rajasthan planted over 7 crore saplings last year, and aims to plant 10 crore more this monsoon season.

Jaisalmer’s Rise in Spiritual and Strategic Importance

Calling Jaisalmer a land of military pride and nuclear power, CM Sharma stated that the state government has announced ₹1700 crore worth of development projects over the last two budgets. These include:

  • ₹70 crore for underground parking and heritage walkways around Poonam Stadium and Jaisalmer Fort
  • Ring Road construction for Jaisalmer city
  • ₹250 crore for strengthening canals of the Indira Gandhi Canal’s Sagarmal Gopa branch, Shaheed Birbal branch, and Baba Ramdev sub-branch

Mass Yoga Practice and Public Participation

On this occasion, CM Sharma led mass yoga practice with officials, elected representatives, and citizens. Participants performed Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Ardhachakrasana, Bhadrasana, Vajrasana, Bhujangasana, Vakrasana, Makarasana, Setubandhasana, Shalabhasana, and breathing techniques like Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom, and Bhramari Pranayama.

He encouraged people to make yoga a daily habit and commit to a healthy lifestyle. The program concluded with a tree plantation ceremony. Present on the occasion were MP Rajendra Singh Gehlot, MLAs Mahant Pratap Puri and Chhotu Singh Bhati, other public representatives, officers, yoga practitioners, and hundreds of citizens.
